Race 11 of the Atmore RC 2024 Points Series was a good one. The weather was nice, with the night air cooling down more than we’ve seen recently this summer. That set the stage for some awesome racing.
We started the night off with our Dial-in Jackpot. David set the tone beating out 15 other entries by running dead on with a zero. That’s two Dial-in Jackpots in a row for David.
On to the RBA Racing/H2O Leak Detection 2.90 Index class and we found 21 entries get whittled down to our points leaders. Along the way we would see some great racing including our closest margin of victory of the night (0.0003), where Mike put Brandon on the trailer on a hole shot. In the finals though, Mike would tap the wall giving the win to Jonathan. Jonathan extended his points lead to 6.
The RBA Racing Open Bracket class started the night off with 15 entries. Rick would make his way through the winners side defeating all in his path. He’d also bring another entry through the loser’s side to meet Wambo in the finals of the loser’s side for the second closest finish line margin of the night (0.0005). Rick’s hole shot win there meant he took winner and runner-up honors. Rick extended his points leave to 13.
Super Stock is our fastest class but also our smallest with only 4 entries. This night we saw runs in the low 2.2s from our points leaders who found themselves in the finals. JR’s quicker ET would make no difference because he had turned it red by 0.007, giving Jimmie the win. Jimmie extended his points lead to 8.
Our final class was the RBA Racing/H2O Leak Detection 2.50 Index class. We started with 10 entries. The finals would come down to David and Jonathan. David would get the hole shot, but Jonathan would run dead on the dial to cross the finish line first. Robert’s points lead was reduced to 4.
Our volunteer staff did an awesome job keeping the action rolling all night. Thanks for everything you do ladies! Shout out to Trinity for doing a great job assisting with ladders and buy backs!
The stream is up if you want to review some of those awesome close finishes from this race.
Special thanks to all of our sponsors for making some things possible that wouldn’t be otherwise! Show them some love: Johnson FORD INC , David’s Catfish House – Atmore , Magnolia & Co. The General Store & K & N Sugar Shop Sweets & Treats , RBA Racing, H2O Leak Detection and Pool Repair, and Pensacola Pool Services .
We’ve got 4 points races left in the season. All classes are technically still up for grabs. Rick’s pulling away so Brandon is gonna have to make some moves to catch him in Open Bracket. The 2.50 Index class is Robert’s to lose. Jonathan would have to win out.
We’re back in 3 weeks on Saturday September 14, where we return to our day racing schedule. Track will be hot at 10am, races at noon. We’ll see you at the Slab!
