The 2024 Points Series Race 4 is in the books! We had an awesome turnout, great racing, and a new track record in Super Stock!
Wambo is on a tear. He took home the Dialin Jackpot for a second straight race (0.0040), then took one of his two Open Bracket entries through the winners bracket and into the winners circle. Rick Amendt didn’t make it easy for him though, beating his second entry in the finals of the losers bracket and taking the first of two races in the finals.
Robert is no stranger to the Super Stock winners circle and wouldn’t be denied yet again, but along the way he set the track record three straight passes. Johnny was on his heals and a single slip is all it would take, but there’s no denying why everyone seems to want Robert to touch their SS car and they always pick up big time when they come out of the black trailer. The track record now stands at 2.1176.
The RBA Racing / H2O Leak Detection and Pool Repair 2.90 Index class was the largest field yet again and never disappoints. It’s cut throat to say the least, but when Mike’s on, he’s on! 25 entries saw our incoming points leader right back in the winners circle, but not without having worked for it. Both drivers ran 2.91 off the 2.90 dial, but Johnny’s 0.029 reaction was no match for Mike’s 0.003.
On Time Printing/FAFO Hobbies was on site presenting some great swag to various participants, with plenty of RC parts available for anyone who needed them. Don’t forget to check out their booth inside of Poppy’s for all your RC needs.
As always we need to send a huge shout-out to those who support our efforts! Magnolia & Co. The General Store & K & N Sugar Shop Sweets & Treats provides all of our trophies and has been a steadfast supporter of Atmore RC since the beginning. Harrigan Lumber Company was instrumental in providing many of the materials required to put the track together. Coming onboard this year, our lane sponsors Johnson FORD INC and David’s Catfish House – Atmore have really opened up so many possibilities that would otherwise be just out of reach. Finally, our class sponsors RBA Racing and H2O Leak Detection are integral to our program. We can’t thank you all enough!
Big thanks to our volunteer staff who give up their Saturday to let us play with toy cars! (Melissa & Mandie)
It goes without saying that Atmore RC and the Slab are nothing without the participation of the great racers. You’re the reason we do this. You’re the reason we continually try to improve what we are doing. We thank you for your continued support!
We’re back at the Slab for a test day Sunday April 28th in preparation for our next organized race on May 11th. In the mean time, we’ll see you at the Slab!
