What started out a little chilly turned into a very pleasent day for some RC drag racing at the Slab. This was our second of two preseason non-points race and test-n-tune days. We ended up with a real good crowd and racing did not disappoint.
The Dialin Jackpot kicked off our organized racing with 10 entries. Travis stole the show with the second pass down running dead on the dial with a zero (0.0001). Some others took a shot including last race’s jackpot winner David, who came up just short running dead on the dial with a zero (0.0004). But predictably Travis’ run was good to snag the $100 jackpot.
For a second race day in a row 2.90 doesn’t have the most entries (21), but has the biggest pot. David and Brandon made it through to the finals, splitting the pot and running for the plaque. David went dead on the dial with a five to secure the win and take a picture with his first plaque of 2025.
Open Bracket is shaping up to be the most popular class of the year, and it might see even more participation next race as we introduce a Quick-8 Bracket to the mix. We had 22 entries, making it the biggest class of the day. Brandon made it through the winner’s side by defeating Matt on a double breakout. Matt had another shot in the loser’s side but turned it red against Rick. That setup a father son final that we’ve seen plenty often go either direction. This time Rick would get the holeshot, but break out eleven thousandths to give the win and the plaque to Brandon.
Super Stock isn’t dead yet. Eight entries came down to David and Ken. Ken would get it done at both ends of the track, posting his quickest time (2.2431) of the day for the win. A couple of our normal regulars in this class had other obligations so there’s still a chance for it to make a come back!
Overall it was a great day of racing with a great group of people. We can’t do it without the support of our racers, staff, and sponsors. Lets give a shoutout to the sponsors who help it make it happen!

We’ve got a great season ahead of us with four (4) classes per race day scheduled from here on out. Catch us next time where we’re gonna reward our fastest 8 bracket cars with a chance at some extra cash.
We’ll see you March 8th at the Slab!
