AtmoreRC’s 2024 Season concluded with an awesome day of racing! The competition was great throughout the year and our last race didn’t disappoint. Multiple points championships were decided throughout the day and we had our biggest entry list of the season for a points race.
Right off the bat we need to thank the sponsors, racers, fans, and staff of volunteers who not only make this experience possible, but make it truly enjoyable and lead us to want to continue participating in this great hobby.
We started our day with the Dialin Jackpot. Sixteen entries took a shot at the jackpot. Jimmie would go 0.0053 over his dialin for the win.
The H2O Leak Detection / RBA Racing 2.90 Index class is normally our most popular class and the same was true here. Fourty-four entries would battle for our largest pot of the regular season races. Double points were on the line and it still wasn’t clear who would be crowned the 2024 Points Champion. Thirteen racers had entered points at the beginning of the 2024 season and the competition had been second to none, with multiple lead changes and a late season charge that resulted in a two and half round lead for Jonathan over hard charging Brandon. There would be no ties at the top. To add fuel to this fiery competition, Rick had put a bounty on Jonathan totaling $200. Matthew would be the first to cash in by taking out one of Jonathan’s entries in first round. Wambo would grab another chunk of change a round later. Round 3 saw three of Brandon’s entries still alive and two of Jonathan’s. Unfortunately Brandon would run into Travis who was on absolute fire. Travis took all of Brandon’s entries and Jonathan’s last entry a round later. That meant Jonathan would be crowned the 2.90 Points Champ, but his day was done. The semis would see two of Travis’ entries and one of Wambo’s. Travis had a bye run to the finals and a shot to take home the whole pot. He had already taken home the previous largest regular season pot so he’s no stranger to getting the job done when it counts. Travis turned it red to send Wambo to the finals. The race in finals was a great illustration of the level of competition in this class. Travis got the early holeshot lead with a 0.0020 reaction to Wambo’s 0.0170, but Wambo would run dead on the dial with an eight to cross the finish line 0.01345 ahead for the win.
The RBA Racing Open Bracket class was next with eighteen entries for the double elimination showdown. Rick had clinched the points championship last race. Dewayne battled Michael on the winner’s side before meeting Rick in the finals. Dewayne took the holeshot win with a finish line margin of 0.00118.
The Super Stock class is the fastest class we ran this year, although that looks like it might change next year. Ten entries started round 1. The race would be run on instant green. JR’s round 1 loss means the Jimmie is your 2024 Super Stock Points Champ. The semis came down to two of Ken’s entries and one of Johnny’s. Ken had a bye run to the finals and would face Johnny in the semis. Johnny turned on that win light with a quicker reaction and 2.3557 to Ken’s 2.3659. In the finals Johnny would again have the quicker reaction time, but he got out of shape mid track and Ken would drive by to the win with his 2.3373 ET.
