Our 2025 Points Series season opener is in the books. The weather forecast was a little bleak earlier in the week and rain over night left us wondering what we’d find when we arrived at the Slab for race prep. We started test-n-tune on time without any drying needed.
Our class sponsors came together this season to provide a base for the points system of $1,800 to be split between our 2.90 Index and Open Bracket classes. BIG thanks to all those sponsors: H2O Leak Detection and Pool Repair, RBA Racing, Pensacola Pool Services, Emerald Coast Water Heaters, and Emerald Coast Custom Rentals .
We opened registration and by the end the points fund had grown to $1,200 and $1,225 for 2.90 and Open Bracket respectively.
Following registration we moved into our qualifying for our Quick8 Bracket class. RBA Racing had donated $50 to go along with the plaque for the winner. Our field was locked in and we moved on to our Dialin Jackpot.
The Jackpot would feature 9 competitors with the winner declared when Robert and Jonathan lined up side by side and laid down a set of deadon times. Robert was dead on with an 8 but Jonathan would be one thousandth better going dead on with a 7 to snag the Jackpot.
The 2.90 Index class was strong as always with the highest payout of the classes contested. Brandon, the 2024 points runner up, picked up where he left off, finding himself in the finals along RBA Racing teammate Rick. Rick finally sealed the deal for his first plaque ever in a holeshot victory with a margin of 0.0072 at the finish line.
The Quick8 Bracket class was our extra, non-regular class for the day. The finals would come down to Johnny and Jonathan, where Johnny turned it red handing the plaque and the sponsored pot to Jonathan.
The Open Bracket class was the largest class of the day. Braxton would defeat Pops on the winner’s side. Pops would go on to lose to Jonathan on the loser’s side to setup a final between Braxton and Jonathan. A set of breakouts for Braxton would send Jonathan home with the winner’s plaque.
Super Stock was missing some regulars again. David would drive around Blaine to post a pretty quick 2.2430 and grab the winner’s plaque.
